Description

Wisconsin apple kringle is a flaky pastry filled with sweet apple filling and topped with icing.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add cold butter and cream cheese. Mix until crumbly.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract and form into a dough.
  5. Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
  6. In another bowl, combine apples, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
  7. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and place the apple mixture in the center.
  8. Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges.
  9. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  10. Mix powdered sugar and milk for icing. Drizzle on top after cooling.
