Description
Wisconsin apple kringle is a flaky pastry filled with sweet apple filling and topped with icing.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups apples, peeled and chopped
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add cold butter and cream cheese. Mix until crumbly.
- Stir in vanilla extract and form into a dough.
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, combine apples, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and place the apple mixture in the center.
- Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges.
- Place on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Mix powdered sugar and milk for icing. Drizzle on top after cooling.
Notes
- Use tart apples for best flavor.
- Chill the dough well for flakiness.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
