Description
Banh Tet is a traditional Vietnamese cake made for the Lunar New Year.
Ingredients
- Sticky rice – 2 cups
- Mung beans – 1 cup
- Pork belly – 300 grams
- Banana leaves – 10 leaves
- Salt – 1 teaspoon
- Pepper – 1 teaspoon
- Water – as needed
Instructions
- Soak sticky rice and mung beans in water overnight.
- Steam mung beans until soft, then mash and mix with salt and pepper.
- Cut pork belly into pieces and marinate with salt and pepper.
- Prepare banana leaves, cut into rectangles.
- Layer sticky rice, mung beans, and pork in banana leaves.
- Wrap tightly and tie with string.
- Boil in water for 6-8 hours.
- Cool before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use fresh banana leaves for better flavor.
- Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
