Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C).
- In a clean bowl, beat egg whites until foamy.
- Add cream of tartar and continue beating until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, until stiff peaks form.
- Mix in vanilla and almond extracts.
- If using, add food coloring and gently fold to combine.
- Spoon or pipe meringue onto a lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours until dry and crisp.
- Turn off the oven and let cookies cool inside.
