Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Red food coloring

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt. Heat over medium until sugar dissolves.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form.
  3. Slowly add hot syrup to egg whites, beating until stiff peaks form.
  4. Add vanilla extract and a few drops of red food coloring. Mix well.
  5. Pour mixture into a greased pan and spread evenly.
  6. Let sit for 4 hours or until set.
  7. Cut into shapes and dust with powdered sugar and cornstarch.
