- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Pink and blue food coloring
- Buttercream frosting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, cream together butter and sugar.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Stir in milk and vanilla.
- Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture.
- Divide batter into two bowls. Tint one with pink and the other with blue food coloring.
- Pour the pink batter into one pan and blue into the other.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool before frosting.

- Use a toothpick to check doneness.
- Allow cakes to cool completely before frosting.
- Decorate with hearts for a Valentine’s theme.
