Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons meringue powder
  • 6 tablespoons water
  • Food coloring (various colors)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add egg and extracts. Mix well.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture.
  6. Chill dough for 30 minutes.
  7. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness.
  8. Cut into desired shapes and place on baking sheets.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden.
  10. Let cookies cool completely before decorating.
  11. In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, meringue powder, and water to make royal icing.
  12. Add food coloring to icing as desired.
  13. Decorate cookies with icing and let dry completely.
