Description

Snickerdoodle cookies are soft and chewy cookies coated in cinnamon sugar.


Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla to the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
  6. In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Shape dough into balls and roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  8. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • For chewier cookies, do not overbake.
  • You can chill the dough for 30 minutes for thicker cookies.
