A simple and flavorful seasoning blend for black-eyed peas.
Ingredients

- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Rinse the black-eyed peas and soak them overnight.
- In a bowl, combine salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat.
- Add the seasoning mix and stir for 1 minute.
- Add soaked black-eyed peas and lemon juice to the pot.
- Cover with water and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes until peas are tender.
- Adjust seasoning as needed and serve warm.
Notes
- Soaking peas overnight helps reduce cooking time.
- You can adjust the spice level by adding more or less cayenne pepper.
- This seasoning works well with other legumes too.
