Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 tablespoons meringue powder
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Food coloring (various colors)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream sugar and butter until light.
  4. Add egg and vanilla to the butter mixture.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients.
  6. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut into shapes.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Let cookies cool completely.
  9. In a bowl, combine powdered sugar, meringue powder, and water to make icing.
  10. Divide icing into bowls and tint with food coloring.
  11. Decorate cookies with icing as desired.
