Description
Rosca de Reyes is a traditional dessert served on Epiphany in Mexico and other Latin American countries.
Ingredients

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 4 eggs
- 2 packets of active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Dried fruits for decoration
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine yeast and warm milk. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add eggs, melted butter, orange zest, and vanilla to the flour mixture.
- Pour the yeast mixture into the flour. Knead until smooth.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Shape the dough into a ring and place on a baking sheet.
- Let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
- Decorate with dried fruits after baking.
Notes
- Serve with hot chocolate.
- Traditionally, a small figurine and a bean are hidden inside.
