Description

Rosca de Reyes is a traditional dessert served on Epiphany in Mexico and other Latin American countries.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 packets of active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Dried fruits for decoration

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine yeast and warm milk. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, melted butter, orange zest, and vanilla to the flour mixture.
  4. Pour the yeast mixture into the flour. Knead until smooth.
  5. Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour.
  6. Shape the dough into a ring and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
  9. Decorate with dried fruits after baking.
