Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a cupcake pan with liners.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vanilla, and vinegar.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients until smooth.
  6. Fill cupcake liners 2/3 full with batter.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool completely before frosting.
