Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Red food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together oil, buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, and food coloring.
  5. Combine both mixtures and mix until smooth.
  6. Add baking soda and vinegar and mix gently.
  7. Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  10. Frost with cream cheese frosting once cooled.
