Description
This cake celebrates the Ohio State Buckeyes with team colors and flavors.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Red and white food coloring
- 1 cup chocolate frosting
- 1 cup cream cheese frosting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
- Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk and vanilla.
- Divide the batter into two bowls; tint one with red food coloring.
- Pour red batter into one pan and white batter into the other.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool for 10 minutes, then remove from pans.
- Once cooled, layer the cakes with chocolate frosting in between.
- Frost the outside with cream cheese frosting. Decorate with additional team colors.
Notes
- Allow cake to cool completely before frosting.
- Use a cake leveler for even layers.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
