A fun and delicious cake designed for a kids football birthday party.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 4 cups buttercream frosting
- Green food coloring
- Football cake topper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Mix well.
- Stir in boiling water until batter is smooth.
- Pour batter into prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely.
- Frost the top of one cake layer with buttercream.
- Place the second layer on top and frost the entire cake.
- Mix green food coloring into the remaining frosting and pipe grass around the cake.
- Add the football cake topper on top.
Notes
- For a chocolate version, use chocolate cake mix.
- Adjust food coloring for desired green shade.
- Use edible glitter for added decoration.
