Description

A simple recipe for cooking black-eyed peas in an Instant Pot.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried black-eyed peas
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Rinse the black-eyed peas under cold water.
  2. Set the Instant Pot to ‘Sauté’ mode and add olive oil.
  3. Add chopped onion and garlic; sauté until soft.
  4. Add black-eyed peas, water, salt, and pepper.
  5. Seal the Instant Pot and set to ‘Manual’ for 15 minutes.
  6. Once done, allow natural pressure release for 10 minutes.
  7. Open the lid and serve hot.

Notes

  • Soaking peas overnight can reduce cooking time.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
