Description

Ohio Buckeyes are delicious chocolate and peanut butter treats that resemble the nut of the buckeye tree.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix peanut butter and softened butter until smooth.
  2. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  3. Roll the mixture into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Freeze the balls for about 30 minutes until firm.
  5. Melt chocolate chips and vegetable shortening together in a microwave or double boiler.
  6. Dip each peanut butter ball into the melted chocolate, leaving a small portion of the peanut butter exposed on top.
  7. Return dipped balls to the baking sheet and let them set until chocolate hardens.

Notes

  • Store in a cool place or refrigerate.
  • Use a toothpick for easier dipping.
