- 1 cup black-eyed peas, soaked overnight
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
- Stir in ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, cook for 2 minutes.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft.
- Add soaked black-eyed peas, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt.
- Add water to cover the peas, bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes until peas are tender.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro.
Notes
- Serve with rice or bread.
- Adjust spices according to your taste.
- Make it spicier by adding more green chilies.
