Ingredients

  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for decoration)
  • Food coloring (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Add molasses and egg to the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  6. Roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thick and cut into shapes for the town.
  7. Place shapes on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  8. Let cool completely before decorating with powdered sugar and food coloring.
