A simple gingerbread template for crafting and decorating gingerbread houses.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar together.
- Add molasses and egg to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
- Roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness on a floured surface.
- Cut out shapes using your template.
- Place shapes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are firm.
- Let cool before decorating.
Notes
- Store leftover dough in the refrigerator.
- Use royal icing for decorating.
- Templates can be made from cardboard.
