Description

A fun gingerbread recipe inspired by Shrek.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • Green icing for decoration
  • Chocolate candies for eyes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar together.
  4. Add molasses and egg to the butter mixture. Mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Combine well.
  6. Roll the dough out on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness.
  7. Cut out Shrek shapes using a cookie cutter.
  8. Place cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  9. Let them cool completely.
  10. Decorate with green icing and chocolate candies.

Notes

  • Use thick icing for better decoration.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container.
