Description
A festive gingerbread pattern for holiday decorating.
Ingredients

- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup molasses
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add egg and molasses to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
- Roll out dough on floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness.
- Cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters.
- Place shapes on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are firm.
- Let cool before decorating.
Notes
- You can use royal icing for decorating.
- Store cookies in an airtight container.
- For a softer cookie, reduce baking time slightly.
