Description

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Royal icing for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine molasses, butter, and egg.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  5. Knead the dough until smooth.
  6. Roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Cut into heart shapes and place on baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until firm.
  9. Let cool before decorating with royal icing.
