Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly.
  2. Insert wooden sticks into the center of each apple.
  3. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and cinnamon.
  4. Cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  5. Bring to a boil without stirring until mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and food coloring.
  7. Dip each apple into the caramel mixture, coating evenly.
  8. Let excess caramel drip off and place on parchment paper.
  9. Add optional toppings if desired.
  10. Allow candy apples to cool and harden before serving.
