Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Green and black food coloring
  • Buttercream frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two round cake pans.
  3. In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar together.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
  5. Stir in milk and vanilla.
  6. Combine flour and baking powder, then mix into wet ingredients.
  7. Divide the batter and color one half with green food coloring.
  8. Pour the green batter into one pan and the plain batter into the other.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let cakes cool completely.
  11. Stack the cakes, using buttercream in between.
  12. Frost the entire cake with buttercream.
  13. Decorate with black food coloring to create football patterns.
