Description
A classic Swiss dish made by melting cheese and enjoyed by dipping bread into the mixture.
Ingredients

- 200g Gruyère cheese
- 200g Emmental cheese
- 300ml dry white wine
- 1 clove garlic, halved
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons kirsch (cherry brandy)
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Freshly grated nutmeg
- Bread, cut into cubes
Instructions
- Rub the inside of a fondue pot with garlic.
- Pour in the white wine and heat gently.
- Gradually add the grated cheeses, stirring continuously until melted.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with kirsch, then stir into the cheese mixture.
- Add pepper and nutmeg to taste.
- Keep warm and serve with bread cubes for dipping.
Notes
- Use a good quality dry white wine.
- Stir constantly to prevent the cheese from clumping.
- Experiment with different cheese combinations.
