Ingredients

- 1 cup dried black eyed peas
- 4 cups water
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Rinse the dried black eyed peas under cold water.
- In a large pot, combine peas and water. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Add onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and cumin. Stir well.
- Continue to cook for another 30 minutes or until peas are tender.
- Drizzle with olive oil before serving.
Notes
- Soak peas overnight for faster cooking.
- Add vegetables for more flavor.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
