Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups of rice
- 1 cup of lentils
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon of cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric
- Salt to taste
- 4 cups of water
- 2 tablespoons of oil
Instructions
- Rinse the rice and lentils under cold water.
- In a pot, heat oil over medium heat.
- Add onion and garlic, sauté until golden.
- Add cumin and turmeric, stir for 1 minute.
- Add rice, lentils, salt, and water.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cover.
- Simmer for 20 minutes or until water is absorbed.
- Fluff with a fork and serve hot.

- Serve with yogurt or salad.
- Adjust spices according to taste.
