Ingredients

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 40 saltine crackers
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  4. Once melted, bring the mixture to a boil and let it boil for 3 minutes without stirring.
  5. Remove from heat and add the vanilla extract.
  6. Pour the mixture over the crackers, spreading it evenly.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes until bubbly.
  8. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  9. Let the chocolate sit for a few minutes, then spread it evenly.
  10. Sprinkle chopped nuts on top if desired.
  11. Cool completely and break into pieces.
