- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cans (15 oz each) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and garlic; sauté until soft.
- Add the bell pepper; cook for 3 minutes.
- Stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Add the kidney beans, crushed tomatoes, and beef broth.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Serve hot with your favorite toppings.
Notes
- Top with cheese, sour cream, or green onions if desired.
- This chili can be made a day ahead and reheated.
