Description

A classic Swiss dish made by melting cheese and served with bread for dipping.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 200g Gruyère cheese
  • 200g Emmental cheese
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 300ml dry white wine
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon kirsch (cherry brandy)
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Crusty bread, cut into cubes

Instructions

  1. Rub the inside of a fondue pot with garlic.
  2. Pour in the white wine and lemon juice.
  3. Heat the mixture until it simmers.
  4. Gradually add the grated cheese, stirring constantly.
  5. Mix the cornstarch with kirsch and add to the cheese mixture.
  6. Continue to stir until the cheese is fully melted and smooth.
  7. Season with black pepper.
  8. Serve with bread cubes for dipping.
