Description
These are the best thumbprint cookies with icing. They are soft, buttery, and filled with your favorite jam, topped with a sweet icing.

- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup fruit jam (your choice)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla, mix well.
- In another bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on a baking sheet.
- Make an indentation in the center of each ball with your thumb.
- Fill each indentation with fruit jam.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
- Let cookies cool completely.
- In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar and milk to make icing. Drizzle over cookies.

- Adjust icing thickness with more or less milk.
