- 1 large onion
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Peel the onion and cut off the top.
- Make cuts in the onion to create petals.
- In a bowl, mix flour, paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
- In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk and egg.
- Dip the onion in the buttermilk mixture, then coat with flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a deep pan.
- Fry the onion until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
