Yakitori is a popular Japanese dish featuring grilled chicken skewers, known for its tender, juicy meat infused with a savory marinade.

Ingredients

  • Chicken thighs: 500 grams, boneless and skinless, cut into bite-sized pieces.
  • Soy sauce: 1/4 cup (60 ml).
  • Mirin: 2 tablespoons (30 ml).
  • Sake: 2 tablespoons (30 ml).
  • Sugar: 1 tablespoon (15 grams).
  • Green onions: 4, cut into 2-inch pieces.
  • Sesame seeds: 1 tablespoon, toasted (for garnish).

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken by cutting it into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Make the marinade by combining soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar in a bowl.
  3. Marinate the chicken in half of the marinade for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Skewer the marinated chicken pieces with green onions.
  5. Grill the skewers on medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes on each side, brushing with reserved marinade.
