Ingredients

- 8 cups beef broth
- 1 pound rice noodles
- 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 piece ginger, sliced
- 2 star anise
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 tablespoons fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Fresh basil leaves
- Bean sprouts
- Lime wedges
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine beef broth, onion, garlic, ginger, star anise, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes to develop flavor.
- Strain the broth and return it to the pot. Add fish sauce and sugar.
- Cook rice noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In bowls, place rice noodles and top with sliced beef.
- Pour hot broth over the noodles and beef.
- Garnish with basil leaves, bean sprouts, and lime wedges.
