Description
A traditional turkey dish for Thanksgiving celebration.
Ingredients

- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 4 cups bread crumbs
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 tablespoon dried sage
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- In a large bowl, mix bread crumbs, onion, celery, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Stuff the turkey with the bread mixture.
- Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
- Place turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth around it.
- Cover with foil and roast for 2.5 to 3 hours.
- Remove foil for the last 30 minutes to brown the skin.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Keep the turkey covered until the last half hour of cooking.
- Use fresh herbs for more flavor.
- Make sure to baste the turkey every hour.
