A classic turkey recipe for Thanksgiving.

- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups turkey broth
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
- 1 tablespoon dried sage
- 2 cups stuffing (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
- Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
- Season the turkey inside and out with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, and sage.
- If using, stuff the turkey with stuffing.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour the turkey broth around it.
- Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
- Roast in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Remove the foil for the last 30 minutes to brown the skin.
- Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
Notes
- For best flavor, brine the turkey overnight.
- Save the drippings for gravy.
- Use a meat thermometer for accurate cooking.
