  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups turkey broth
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon dried sage
  • 2 cups stuffing (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
  4. Season the turkey inside and out with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, and sage.
  5. If using, stuff the turkey with stuffing.
  6. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour the turkey broth around it.
  7. Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
  8. Roast in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  9. Remove the foil for the last 30 minutes to brown the skin.
  10. Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.

  • For best flavor, brine the turkey overnight.
  • Save the drippings for gravy.
