- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 onion, quartered
- 4 carrots, chopped
- 4 celery stalks, chopped
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 2 teaspoons dried rosemary
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
- Rub the softened butter all over the turkey, including under the skin.
- Season the turkey with salt and pepper.
- Stuff the cavity with onion, carrots, and celery.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth around it.
- Sprinkle thyme and rosemary over the turkey.
- Cover with aluminum foil and roast for 2 hours.
- Remove foil and roast for an additional 1-2 hours until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
