Description
Tteokbokki is a popular Korean street food made with spicy rice cakes, fish cakes, and a sweet and spicy sauce.
Ingredients

- 1 lb Korean rice cakes
- 4 cups water
- 2 tbsp gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
- 1 tbsp gochugaru (Korean red chili flakes)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 lb fish cakes, sliced
- 2 green onions, chopped
Instructions
- Soak the rice cakes in water for 30 minutes if they are hard.
- In a pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
- Add gochujang, gochugaru, sugar, and soy sauce to the boiling water.
- Stir to dissolve the sauce ingredients.
- Add the rice cakes to the pot and cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Stir frequently until the sauce thickens and coats the rice cakes.
- Add fish cakes and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
Notes
- Adjust the spice level by adding more or less gochujang.
- Serve hot for the best taste.
- You can add boiled eggs or cabbage for extra flavor.
