- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- 1/4 cup ice water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups sliced tomatoes
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour and salt.
- Add butter and blend until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in ice water until dough forms.
- Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Roll out dough on a floured surface into a circle.
- Transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Spread mozzarella cheese in the center, leaving a border.
- Layer sliced tomatoes and basil on top of cheese.
- Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with black pepper.
- Fold edges of the dough over the filling.
- Brush crust with beaten egg.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
