Description

Tikoy is a traditional Chinese rice cake served during the Lunar New Year.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups glutinous rice flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Optional: sliced fruits for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix glutinous rice flour and sugar.
  2. Gradually add water and mix until smooth.
  3. Add vanilla extract and vegetable oil. Stir well.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased mold.
  5. Steam for 45 minutes or until firm.
  6. Allow to cool before slicing.
  7. Garnish with sliced fruits if desired.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container.
  • Best served warm or at room temperature.
  • Can be fried for added texture.
