Description
Tikoy is a traditional Chinese rice cake served during the Lunar New Year.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups glutinous rice flour
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Optional: sliced fruits for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix glutinous rice flour and sugar.
- Gradually add water and mix until smooth.
- Add vanilla extract and vegetable oil. Stir well.
- Pour the mixture into a greased mold.
- Steam for 45 minutes or until firm.
- Allow to cool before slicing.
- Garnish with sliced fruits if desired.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- Best served warm or at room temperature.
- Can be fried for added texture.
