- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 cups applewood chips (soaked in water)
Instructions
- Preheat your smoker to 225°F.
- Rub the turkey with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Place the soaked applewood chips in the smoker box.
- Put the turkey in the smoker, breast side up.
- Smoke the turkey for about 30 minutes per pound, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Remove the turkey from the smoker and let it rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Ensure the turkey is fully thawed before smoking.
- Experiment with different wood chips for unique flavors.
- Brining the turkey can add extra moisture.
