  • 1 whole turkey (1214 lbs)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups stuffing (your choice)
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 carrots, chopped
  • 3 celery stalks, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon dried sage

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the turkey by removing the giblets and patting it dry.
  3. Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
  4. Season the turkey with salt, pepper, thyme, rosemary, and sage.
  5. Stuff the turkey with your choice of stuffing.
  6. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and add chopped onion, carrots, and celery around it.
  7. Pour chicken broth into the pan.
  8. Cover the turkey with foil and roast for 2.5 to 3 hours.
  9. Remove the foil for the last 30 minutes to brown the skin.
  10. Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
  11. Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
