A delicious main course for your Thanksgiving dinner.

- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups chopped onion
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 1 cup chopped carrot
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
- 1 tablespoon dried sage
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 cup cooked sausage (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry.
- Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
- Season the turkey with salt and pepper.
- In a large bowl, mix onion, celery, carrot, thyme, rosemary, sage, and breadcrumbs.
- Stuff the turkey with the mixture.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth around it.
- Cover the turkey with foil and roast for 2 hours.
- Remove the foil and roast for an additional hour, basting occasionally.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 30 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer for accurate cooking.
- Feel free to add your favorite herbs to the stuffing.
- Save the drippings for gravy.
