  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped carrot
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon dried sage
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup cooked sausage (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry.
  3. Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
  4. Season the turkey with salt and pepper.
  5. In a large bowl, mix onion, celery, carrot, thyme, rosemary, sage, and breadcrumbs.
  6. Stuff the turkey with the mixture.
  7. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth around it.
  8. Cover the turkey with foil and roast for 2 hours.
  9. Remove the foil and roast for an additional hour, basting occasionally.
  10. Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
  11. Let the turkey rest for 30 minutes before carving.
