Ingredients
- Turkey – 1 whole (12-14 lbs)
- Butter – 1 cup, softened
- Salt – 2 tablespoons
- Pepper – 1 tablespoon
- Garlic – 4 cloves, minced
- Onion – 1, chopped
- Celery – 2 stalks, chopped
- Carrots – 2, chopped
- Chicken broth – 4 cups
- Fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme) – 1/4 cup, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare the turkey by removing the giblets and patting it dry.
- Rub the softened butter all over the turkey, then season with salt and pepper.
- In a large roasting pan, place the chopped onion, celery, and carrots.
- Put the turkey on top of the vegetables.
- Pour the chicken broth into the pan.
- Roast the turkey for 3-4 hours, basting every 30 minutes.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
