- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups bread crumbs
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1 cup diced onion
- 2 teaspoons dried sage
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 cups chicken broth
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare the stuffing by sautéing onions and celery in butter.
- Add bread crumbs, sage, salt, and pepper to the mixture.
- Moisten the stuffing with chicken broth and mix well.
- Stuff the turkey cavity with the prepared stuffing.
- Rub the turkey skin with softened butter and season with salt and pepper.
- Place the turkey on a roasting pan and cover with foil.
- Roast for about 3 to 4 hours, basting occasionally.
- Remove the foil in the last hour of cooking to brown the skin.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
