  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 onion, quartered

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Prepare the turkey by removing the giblets and patting it dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub the softened butter all over the turkey, including under the skin.
  4. Season the turkey with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, and sage.
  5. Place onion, carrots, and celery inside the turkey cavity.
  6. Pour chicken broth into the roasting pan.
  7. Roast the turkey for about 13-15 minutes per pound, basting occasionally.
  8. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness, aiming for 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
  9. Remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
