- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 onion, quartered
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- Fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
- Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
- Season the turkey generously with salt and pepper.
- Place the onion, carrots, celery, and herbs inside the turkey cavity.
- Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a roasting pan.
- Add chicken broth to the bottom of the pan.
- Roast the turkey for about 3 to 3.5 hours, basting occasionally.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.

- Use a meat thermometer for accuracy.
- Brining the turkey overnight improves flavor.
- Save the drippings for gravy.
