Delicious Thanksgiving cookies decorated with royal icing.
Ingredients

- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons meringue powder
- 5–6 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter mixture.
- Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
- Roll dough into balls and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Let cookies cool completely before decorating.
- For royal icing, mix powdered sugar, meringue powder, and water until smooth.
- Decorate cooled cookies with royal icing.

- Store cookies in an airtight container.
- Allow royal icing to dry completely before stacking cookies.
- Use food coloring for different icing shades.
