Description
A delicious and creamy sweet potato pie recipe that combines the natural sweetness of sweet potatoes with warm spices, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- Sweet potatoes: 2 cups, mashed (about 2 medium sweet potatoes)
- Granulated sugar: 3/4 cup
- Butter: 1/2 cup (1 stick), softened
- Eggs: 2 large
- Milk: 1/2 cup
- Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
- Ground cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
- Ground nutmeg: 1/2 teaspoon
- Pie crust: 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and wash the sweet potatoes. Pierce them with a fork and bake for 45-60 minutes until tender.
- Prepare the pie crust by placing a store-bought crust in a pie dish or rolling out homemade dough and fitting it into the dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potatoes, softened butter, and granulated sugar. Mix well, then add eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Beat until smooth and creamy.
- Pour the sweet potato filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading it evenly.
- Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes until the filling is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the pie cool on a wire rack for at least 1 hour before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature, optionally topped with whipped cream or ice cream.
Notes
- Choose firm, smooth sweet potatoes for the best flavor.
- Consider adding chocolate or nuts for variations.
- Allow the pie to cool completely before slicing to prevent a runny filling.
- Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother filling.
