Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 46 tablespoons ice water
  • 3 ripe pears, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the butter and mix until crumbly.
  4. Stir in ice water until the dough forms a ball.
  5. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  6. In another bowl, mix pears, cranberries, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a circle.
  8. Place the fruit mixture in the center of the dough.
  9. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling.
  10. Brush the dough with the beaten egg.
  11. Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Serve warm with ice cream.
  • Can substitute apples for pears.
